Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary: A Decade of Building Community, Preserving Cultural Heritage, and Inspiring a New Chapter
2026年10月10日上午，大费城华人文化中心（Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center，简称GPCCC）在修葺一新的中心举行十周年庆典。政府代表、社区伙伴、文化艺术工作者与中心团队、义工及社区朋友百余人欢聚一堂，共同回顾十年发展历程，表彰为中心建设与社区服务作出贡献的个人，并通过中国传统艺术演出，展现中华文化的魅力。
On the morning of October 10, 2026, the Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center (GPCCC) celebrated its 10th anniversary at its newly renovated center. More than 100 distinguished guests and community members, including government representatives, community partners, cultural and artistic professionals, the Center’s leadership team, volunteers, and friends, gathered to mark this special milestone.
The celebration offered an opportunity to reflect on the Center’s remarkable journey and achievements over the past decade, recognize and honor individuals whose dedication and contributions have helped build the Center and strengthen its community outreach, and showcase the richness and beauty of Chinese culture through a series of traditional Chinese artistic performances.
焕然一新的活动空间，为这场具有里程碑意义的庆典增添了喜庆气氛，也承载着文化中心继续服务社区、拓展文化交流的期待。从2016年成立至今，大费城文化中心逐步发展为连接社区、传承文化、促进交流的重要平台，为不同年龄、不同背景的居民创造相聚、学习和参与的机会。
The beautifully renovated event space added a festive touch to this milestone celebration while symbolizing the Center’s renewed commitment to serving the community and fostering greater cultural exchange. Since its founding in 2016, the Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center has steadily grown into an important hub for bringing communities together, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting cross-cultural understanding. Over the years, it has created meaningful opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to connect, learn, and actively engage with one another.

文化中心主任张向红女士致开幕辞，为十周年庆典拉开序幕。她代表文化中心向到场的领事馆及政府代表、社区领袖、捐赠者、赞助商和社区家庭表示欢迎与感谢。她表示，十周年不仅是对发展成果的庆祝，也是对十年来友谊、奉献与社区精神的回顾。文化中心始终致力于丰富大费城地区居民的文化生活、加强社区联系，并成为华人社区与美国主流社会之间的桥梁，促进文化交流、相互理解、尊重与融合。她特别感谢创始人游恒的远见、领导力与长期付出，以及捐赠者和赞助商对中心发展的支持。
Ms. Zhang Xianghong, Director of the Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center, delivered the opening remarks, officially kicking off the 10th anniversary celebration. On behalf of the Center, she warmly welcomed and expressed her sincere gratitude to the consular and government representatives, community leaders, donors, sponsors, and families in attendance.
She noted that the 10th anniversary was not only a celebration of the Center’s accomplishments, but also an opportunity to reflect on a decade of friendship, dedication, and community spirit. Since its founding, the Center has remained committed to enriching the cultural lives of residents throughout the Greater Philadelphia region, strengthening community connections, and serving as a bridge between the Chinese American community and mainstream American society. Through its efforts, the Center continues to foster cultural exchange, mutual understanding, respect, and integration.
Ms. Zhang also extended special recognition to founder You Heng for his vision, leadership, and unwavering dedication over the years, as well as to the many donors and sponsors whose generous support has been instrumental in the Center’s growth and development.

A Decade of Dedication and Service by the Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center has earned recognition from both the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Montgomery County. Pennsylvania State Senator Maria Collett, representing the 12th Senatorial District, presented the Center with an official congratulatory citation commemorating its 10th anniversary. The recognition honored the Center’s longstanding contributions to promoting Chinese culture and fostering friendship, understanding, and meaningful connections among residents from diverse backgrounds.
贺信文书中提到，文化中心于2016年11月20日正式开放，此后通过节庆活动、教育讲座、社交课程及光华中华文化夏令营等项目，为社区提供丰富的文化体验与学习机会。文书特别赞扬中心团队成员及社区伙伴的无私奉献，以及为促进文化理解、推动社区积极发展所付出的努力。

The congratulatory citation noted that the Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center officially opened its doors on November 20, 2016. Since then, the Center has provided the community with a wide range of cultural experiences and learning opportunities through festivals and celebrations, educational lectures, social enrichment classes, and programs such as the Guanghua Chinese Culture Summer Camp. The citation also commended the Center’s team members and community partners for their selfless dedication and tireless efforts to promote cultural understanding and foster positive community development.
At the anniversary ceremony, the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners presented an official proclamation commemorating the Center’s 10th anniversary. The proclamation was jointly signed by Board Chair Jamila H. Winder, Vice Chair Neil K. Makhija, and Commissioner Thomas DiBello, formally recognizing this important milestone in the Center’s history.

The proclamation recognized the Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center in Blue Bell as a valuable community resource, providing residents with opportunities for learning, cultural exchange, and recreational activities. It also highlighted the Center’s active role as a community partner of Montgomery County, recognizing its contributions to initiatives addressing family and youth mental health, assessing the needs of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, promoting vaccination efforts, and supporting the International Spring Festival, among other community-focused programs.

A decade of growth and achievement reflects the vision of the Center’s founder, the dedication and perseverance of its leadership team, the countless hours contributed by volunteers, and the generous support of the wider community. The awards ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to those who have stood alongside the Center throughout its journey, recognizing the individuals and community partners whose commitment and contributions have helped build and shape the Center over the past ten years.
Consul Zhou Kailiang presented the Founder’s Award to Ms. You Heng in recognition of her vision and leadership in establishing the Center. Mr. Razin Karu presented the Outstanding Community Engagement Award to Dr. Francis Jeyaraj, honoring his contributions to strengthening community connections. Pennsylvania State Senator Maria Collett presented the Outstanding Sponsor Award to Dr. Li Xiaobin, recognizing his generous support and commitment to the Center’s development.

The 10-Year Excellence in Leadership and Service Award was presented to Zhang Xianghong, Shen Huan, Jason Zhang, and Hui Zhang. The Outstanding Team Member and Cultural Center Service Award was presented to Bei Li, Susan Cong, and Xiaobo Zhang. Yi Zhao received the 10-Year Outstanding Contribution Award, while Rose Feng, Yue Sheng, Weiqin Luan, Xueqin Gao, and Yanhui Shi were honored with the Cultural Center Outstanding Contribution Award.
These awards recognized the dedication, hard work, and invaluable contributions of the individuals who have played an important role in the Center’s growth and success over the past decade.
戏曲与笔墨交融，古筝奏响庆典
A Celebration of Chinese Arts: Traditional Opera, Calligraphy, and the Elegant Sounds of the Guzheng
中国传统艺术表演为庆典增添了鲜明的文化色彩。古筝演奏家杨凌演奏了《丰收锣鼓》和《渔舟唱晚》，拥有两千五百多年历史的古筝，以宽广的音域和丰富的表现力，传递出两种不同的音乐意境。一动一静之间，让现场观众领略到中国民族音乐的层次与魅力，也为庆典留下了富有诗意的文化记忆。
Traditional Chinese artistic performances brought a distinctive cultural touch to the celebration. Guzheng virtuoso Yang Ling captivated the audience with two classic pieces, Drumming with Joy for a Bountiful Harvest (《丰收锣鼓》) and Evening Song of the Fishing Boats (《渔舟唱晚》).
With a history spanning more than 2,500 years, the guzheng is celebrated for its wide tonal range and remarkable expressive versatility. Through these two contrasting compositions, Yang Ling evoked two distinct musical landscapes—one vibrant and exuberant, the other serene and lyrical. The interplay of energy and tranquility offered the audience a glimpse into the depth and beauty of traditional Chinese music, leaving behind a poetic and memorable cultural impression of the celebration.
旅美京剧艺术家宋飞鸿带来《颂西湖》和《红梅赞》，将戏曲演唱与书法艺术融于舞台。宋飞鸿是著名京剧表演艺术家、书画艺术大师宋宝罗先生的女儿，也是一位致力于海外中华文化传播的京剧及书画艺术家。
Fei Hong Song, a Beijing Opera artist based in the United States, delighted the audience with performances of Ode to the West Lake (《颂西湖》) and Ode to the Red Plum Blossom (《红梅赞》), seamlessly blending the art of traditional Chinese opera with the elegance of Chinese calligraphy on stage.
The daughter of Mr. Song Baoluo, a renowned Peking Opera performer and master of Chinese painting and calligraphy, Fei Hong Song is an accomplished artist in her own right. Through her work in Peking Opera and traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting, she is dedicated to promoting and sharing Chinese cultural heritage with audiences around the world.
宋飞鸿的书法清逸隽永，浓淡笔墨间富有山水意趣。“边写边唱、曲终笔落”的表演形式，让观众在唱腔与笔墨的交织中，感受中国传统艺术的韵味，也展现了戏曲与书法相互映衬的独特魅力。
Fei Hong Song’s calligraphy is graceful and refined, with an enduring elegance that evokes the beauty of traditional Chinese landscapes through the subtle interplay of ink and brushwork. Her unique performance, in which she writes while singing and completes her calligraphy as the music draws to a close, captivated the audience. The seamless interplay of operatic vocals and flowing brushstrokes offered spectators an immersive experience of the beauty and depth of traditional Chinese art, highlighting the distinctive harmony between Peking Opera and Chinese calligraphy.
立足社区，迈向下一个十年
Rooted in the Community, Moving Forward into the Next Decade
作为光华华人协会旗下的两个分支机构之一，大费城华人文化中心与光华中文学校共同服务社区，十年如一日。从文化艺术、兴趣社团到社区联结与公益服务，中心持续为居民搭建交流与参与的平台。即使在疫情期间，中心也通过线上活动延续社区联系，让文化与陪伴跨越空间，走进居民的日常生活。
As one of the two branches under the Guanghua Chinese Association, the Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center, together with the Guanghua Chinese School, has remained dedicated to serving the community throughout the past decade. From cultural and artistic programs and interest-based clubs to community engagement and public service initiatives, the Center has consistently provided a welcoming platform for residents to connect, participate, and build lasting relationships.
Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Center found ways to keep the community connected through virtual programs and online activities, ensuring that culture, friendship, and a sense of belonging transcended physical distance and remained an integral part of residents’ everyday lives.
在光华华人协会理事会的领导与支持下，大费城华人文化中心将与光华中文学校紧密合作，通过教育、文化及社交活动传承中华语言文化、服务社区家庭。同时，中心与亚裔联盟、Jaisohn Center、国际节庆基金会、Blue Bell图书馆、Lower Moreland图书馆、UDCA、CBCA、WCA、North Penn华人社区及North Penn高中等伙伴开展合作，拓展服务范围，促进跨文化联结，增强社区的参与和影响力。
With the leadership and continued support of the Guanghua Chinese Association’s Board of Directors, the Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center will continue to work hand in hand with the Guanghua Chinese School to preserve and promote Chinese language and cultural heritage, while serving local families through a wide range of educational, cultural, and social programs.
The Center also maintains strong partnerships with numerous community organizations and institutions, including the Asian American Coalition, Jaisohn Center, International Festival Foundation, Blue Bell Library, Lower Moreland Library, UDCA, CBCA, WCA, the North Penn Chinese community, and North Penn High School. Through these collaborative relationships, the Center aims to broaden its community outreach, build bridges across cultures, and strengthen community engagement, connections, and impact.
十周年既是回望，也是新的起点。此次庆典将政府代表、合作伙伴、华人社区、中心团队和义工聚在一起，呈现了文化中心十年积累的联结与信任。

The 10th anniversary marks both a moment to reflect on the past and the beginning of an exciting new chapter. The celebration brought together government representatives, community partners, members of the Chinese American community, the Center’s leadership team, and dedicated volunteers, highlighting the strong connections, lasting relationships, and trust that the Center has built over the past decade.
As it embarks on this next chapter, the Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center remains committed to bringing people together through culture and serving the community with dedication. Looking ahead, the Center will continue to create opportunities for more residents to connect, build friendships, and actively participate in community life, bringing greater vitality, warmth, and a stronger sense of belonging to the Greater Philadelphia region.
